Dr. Samir M. Patel, MD, FACS

Dr. Patel studied Biochemistry and Genetics at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1993 and went on to earn his degree as a Doctor of Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he graduated in 1997.  He did his surgical residency at SUNY Health Science Center of Brooklyn and was Chief Resident in 2001 - 2002. 

He chose his fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery; also at SUNY because his interest was in minimally invasive surgical procedures.  During his fellowship, Dr. Patel worked with the world renowned Dr. George Ferzli, who is an expert in the field of Laparoscopic Surgery and Lap-Band placement.

He is a member of S.A.G.E.S.(Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons), American Society of Bariatric Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Society. 

Family:

Dr. Patel has been married for many years and has a young son. His family moved to New Jersey in 2003 and they now reside in Atlantic County.


Hobbies:

Swimming, barbeque grilling, soccer, baseball, and Tae Kwando.  To stay in shape, Dr. Patel loves working out in his home gym. 


Special Interests: 

Adapting cutting edge techniques to perform minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of obesity.  If you ask him, he would say "America needs to focus on getting healthy.  Obesity is at an

all-time high and now is when we have to act.  Most people can't lose weight on their own
despite their attempts.
